ANSI/ISEA 107 (American National Standard for High-Visibility Safety Apparel and Accessories):
This standard provides guidelines for the design, performance specifications, and use of high-visibility and reflective apparel, including jackets and trousers. It classifies HI-VIS garments into three types (O, R, P) and three performance classes (1, 2, 3) based on the wearer’s activities and the level of risk.
Type O: Off-road use
Type R: Roadway use
Type P: Public safety use
Class 1: Provides the lowest level of visibility.
Class 2: Provides moderate level of visibility.
Class 3: Provides the highest level of visibility.
EN ISO 20471 (High visibility clothing - Test methods and requirements):
This is the European standard for high-visibility clothing. It specifies requirements for clothing capable of visually signaling the user’s presence. The standard is intended to provide conspicuity of the wearer in any light condition when viewed by operators of vehicles or other mechanized equipment during daylight conditions and under illumination by vehicle headlights in the dark.
Similar to ANSI/ISEA 107, it classifies garments into three classes based on the minimum areas of visible material and the configuration of the reflective tape.
